Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 24, 2026
[Instame] (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Instame mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how Instame handles information. The short version: Instame is built without a backend, your photos never leave your device, and no account is required.
1. Our privacy-first design
Instame transforms your local Apple Photos library into a personal, Instagram-style feed of your own memories. It is not a social network. There are no followers, public profiles, comments, or sharing between users. All content is generated entirely from photos already on your device.
2. Information we do not collect
- Your photos. Photos and videos are read locally on your device and are never uploaded to us or any third party.
- Account information. Instame requires no account, login, email, or password.
- Contacts, precise tracking identifiers, or your library content are never transmitted to our servers, because we do not operate servers that receive your library.
3. Information processed on your device
To build your feed and stories, Instame reads photo metadata such as dates, locations (when present in a photo’s EXIF data), media types, and album or favorite status. This processing happens on your device. Your likes, saves, collections, and view history are also stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.
Location names shown in the App are resolved using Apple’s reverse geocoding and cached on your device.
4. Photo library permission
Instame requests access to your photo library so it can create your feed. You may grant full access or limited access to a selected subset of photos, and the App functions with either. You can change or revoke this permission at any time in your device’s Settings.
5. Subscriptions and purchases
Instame offers auto-renewing subscriptions managed through Apple’s App Store and processed by our subscription provider, RevenueCat, Inc. Apple processes your payment; we do not receive your payment card details. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous identifier to manage your subscription entitlement. Apple’s handling of your purchase is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, and RevenueCat’s handling is governed by RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
6. Analytics and advertising measurement
We use privacy-conscious analytics to understand how the App is used in aggregate and to improve it. This may include:
- Product analytics (PostHog) for usage events such as app opens, onboarding completion, and feature interactions. These events describe app activity, not the content of your photos.
- Advertising measurement (Meta App Events and Apple SKAdNetwork) to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and conversions.
Where required, we ask for your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before any tracking that uses your device advertising identifier. If you decline, we do not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
7. Data retention
Because your photos, likes, saves, and history are stored on your device, they remain under your control and are removed when you delete the App or clear its data. Any aggregate analytics events are retained only as long as needed for the purposes described above.
8. Children’s privacy
Instame is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because most data stays on your device, you can exercise much of this directly by managing the App and its permissions. For anything else, contact us at the email below.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
